Cockroach control in Grenada
Cockroaches are the pest we get called about most often. The warm, humid weather here suits them all year, so numbers do not drop off in a cooler season the way they do in other countries. Most homes are clear after two visits.

Why there are so many here
- The temperature in Grenada stays in the range cockroaches breed in all year, so there is no season when they stop.
- Open eaves, unscreened vents and gaps around pipes give them easy ways in, and the warm spaces inside walls and under floors suit them.
- They move between drains, soakaways and buildings, so a problem at a neighbouring property can become a problem at yours.
Cockroaches feed in drains and rubbish and then walk across food and worktops, so they carry germs onto surfaces you use. Their droppings and shed skins can also set off asthma and allergies, particularly in children.
How to tell you have a problem
- You turn on the kitchen light at night and something runs for cover.
- A stale, oily smell that gets stronger near cupboards or the sink.
- Dark droppings the size of ground pepper along the backs of shelves.
- Shed skins and brown egg cases behind appliances or in cupboard corners.
- Dark smear marks along skirting boards and pipes where they travel.
- Cockroaches out during the day, which usually means there are a lot of them.
Common species here
The large reddish-brown one most people mean by roach. Lives in drains, soakaways, spaces under floors and outbuildings.
About the same size, with pale yellow edges on the wings. More often found outside, in planting and around timber.
Small and tan coloured. It breeds quickly and lives indoors, in kitchen equipment and cupboards. The main worry for food businesses.
How we treat it
We find where they are living, not just where you saw them. That means checking drains, wall and floor voids, behind appliances and any shared wall with the building next door.
We put gel bait where the cockroaches feed and treat the surfaces they walk along. The bait is what reaches the ones you never see, which is how the whole population is cleared.
We seal the gaps we found, tell you what to do about drains and food storage, and book a second visit so any eggs that hatch after the first treatment are dealt with.
What you can do yourself
None of this replaces a treatment, but it makes the treatment work better and last longer.
- Fix dripping taps and dry up standing water under the sink. Cockroaches can go much longer without food than without water.
- Keep dry food, pet food and fruit in sealed containers rather than open packets.
- Put covers on floor drains and keep water in the traps under the sinks.
- Clear out cardboard and paper storage, which they nest in and lay eggs against.
- Cut back any planting touching the outside walls, and keep bins closed and away from the doors.

You should see a big drop in the first week. Clearing them completely usually takes two visits a few weeks apart, because the egg cases are protected and hatch after the first treatment. A heavy infestation in a commercial kitchen takes longer and is better handled on a regular service.
Yes. We use gels and sprays placed where the cockroaches travel rather than spraying across open surfaces. Before we leave we tell you which areas to keep clear and for how long.
Usually not. If we are putting bait inside cupboards we will ask you to clear those particular units, and we will tell you which ones when you book so you are not emptying the whole kitchen.
Yes. We treat your property and seal the routes they are using to get in, which handles most cases. If a whole building or a row of units is affected, treating it all at once works much better, and we can speak to the landlord or the management company for you.
